Q: My grand daughter is in middle school, 6th grade. She is in pre IB classes and in one class has 12 hours community service for the school year. She must complete 3 hours before report card time. With insurance issues and law suites ruling the world, what can an 11y/o do that will effect change? Her wish is to read to the sick kids on the wards of one of the local hospitals. I'm not sure they can allow it by law. Our vet has agreed to let her come on sunday and pick up trash around the kennel. That's one hour. Any ideas?
A: Don't do the vet thing, she will strongly dislike that...they make you clean up poop all day, it's freaking disgusting. Anyways, she can always volunteer at after school programs, we used to do make overs for the elderly, paint their nail and do their hair and such. There is so much out there. I think even tutoring could be considered community service. Anyways but cleaning up animal feces.
