Q: we are having crew appreciation week at mcdonalds and need some good ideas for each day of the week.
A: Get customers involved by having them vote for crew members of the week or month or year. Regulars love to be part of something like that and crew loves to know customers appreciate them. Have a way that crew members can secretly vote for recognition for others they think do an extra good job but give one distinctively colored ballot to each person even if they have space for more than one vote to prevent ballot box stuffing. Put up crew pictures - pictures of everyone in the crew if you want to show appreciation to all. Or candid shots of the crew at work. Customers also get into that and crew usually like the public recognition. Balloons over the counter area make a festive look or use balloons to let people pop for special awards inside. Depending on budget offer small (or not so small) incentive awards - Blockbusters free rental coupons, free bowling game cards, 10 gal. of gas, WallMart or other store cards, and of course recognition pins that can be worn on uniform or cap from then on, Recognition certificates are good too but pins seem to last longer in pride building. If you are in a small town area take out an ad in the paper with a picture of the whole crew or a few shots that include the whole crew between them. DO NOT leave anyone out or you'll defeat the purpose.
