Q: As a non-indian, is it odd/strange or acceptable/nice to get a present for a girl i've been seeing who will celebrate Diwali next month. If it is nice/accepable, can you suggest anything to get her? Any traditional presents or cards etc? bear in mind though it will be from me as a non-indian. How and when should it be given/wrapped? Both British by the way. Thanks for your help!
A: aww how thoughtful of you! well, something wearable is tradition, and red, is just a color associated with celebration and fun in india. but of course, it's really only the thought that counts, and i'm sure she'll love whatever you get her for that reason. but in short, clothing/jewelry/accessories is typical.
