Q: If your supose to break your fast at sunset then why keep your fast at dawn? Why not keep it at sunrise? Keeping your fast from dawn (still dark) and then breaking it at sunset (still light). Shouldn't one be fasting during day light hours? sunset means the disappearance of the sun below the horizon. Dusk means the time just before nightfall when it is almost dark. Now lets put some sense and logic in to this.We keep our fast at dawn thats when we stop eating.Dawn means to begin to grow light after the night. This is when the night ends and the day starts to begin.Sunrise means the appearance of the sun obove the horizon. So sunrise happenes in day light. We stop eating at dawn not at sunrise. Now sunset also happens during day light so why do we break our fast at sunset when there is still day light? Why not break your fast at dusk when it is dark? Keep your fast from dawn till sunset ?Why not from dawn till dusk which is sensible, logical and according to the Quran and Sunnah? The night ends and day begins at dawn. The day ends and the night begins at dusk.Allah says in the holy book complete your fast till night fall. The Prophet (PBUH) says complete your fast until the stars are lit and can be seen.He also says complete your fast until the day vanishes and the night falls.Sahih Bukari/Muslim.Brothers,sisters,uncles and aunties fasting all day from dawn and then wasting your fast by breaking it at sunset is it really worth it?
